David Hasselhoff Announces Australian Tour, This Is Not A Drill

Written by Nicholas Jones on 21 August 2012

No, this isn’t a dream. No, this isn’t a drill. Prepare yourself for the onslaught that is David Hasselhoff as he prepares to travel to Australia in 2013 for a national tour.

In a world filled with interchangeable nonentities passing themselves off as celebs, he is absolutely a one-off. And that is actually pretty refreshing. You always know where you stand with The Hoff; up to your neck in cheese.

Now we know what you’re probably thinking, what could The Hoff, now 60 years of age, possibly offer me and my friends? Well for those of you too young to remember, The Hoff is so much more than a mere television personality; he is worldwide phenomenon.

The Hoff has enjoyed a range of successful careers as a pop artist, with would you believe it two #1 singles, a star of musicals such as Chicago, and The Producers, and, of course, as part of some of the most popular television shows ever made – Baywatch.

He even sang on top of the Berlin wall as it was pulled down amidst the fall of East Germany and communist Soviet Russia. How’s that for making the history books!

He has popped up on telly more recently; as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent and on the American version of Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing with the Stars, in Australia on celebrity apprentice but it is for Knight Rider and Baywatch that he remains best known.

But if Knight Rider was The Hoff’s big break, Baywatch was the show which made him and which cast the die for a man who does not know the meaning of going quietly.

When Baywatch was canned after just one season, sensing its potential, Hasselhoff (and others) revived the show. He became one of the most successful TV ac-tors of his generation and brought the seductive curves of the famous red swim- suits worn by Yasmine and co into living rooms around the world.

If you’ve ever wondered when it was exactly that dad began taking his Saturday evening meal through to the lounge, it was in the early nineties when Pamela Anderson’s onesie started joining him for dinner.

So Fresh off the back of headlining the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Hoff is bringing his live show to Australia. Described as an intimate, hilarious evening of song, dance and audience interaction.

Knight Rider to Baywatch, Broadway and the Berlin Wall. Hoff-crazy? You bet it is! Come party, Hoffstyle! You’ll like him, he’s nice! Tall, but nice!

Most Outrageous Rock Star Rider Demands
Most Outrageous Rock Star Rider Demands

We’ve all heard stories, rumours and urban myths about outrageous rock star rider demands, whether it be hookers, cocaine or dwarves. A lesser known fact is that although most of these demands were because the rock stars in question had overblown egos and were off their faces on a variety of party powders, sometimes they are put in there by the artists to ensure that the promoter is paying attention to the rest of the rider.
