Another Band Leaked For Soundwave 2013, As If It Wasn’t Big Enough

Puscifer will see you soon Australia!

Personally, we thought the monstrous second round of acts added to to Soundwave Festival 2013 bill meant the event for music lovers of the harder, heavier variety couldn’t get any bigger.

What with the surprise addition of Slayer to the mix, making Soundwave 2013 the one place to catch three of metal’s ‘Big Four’ (along with Metallica and Anthrax), along with the likes of Cypress Hill, Gallows, Versus The World, Bullet For My Valentine and many more – it seemed that the Soundwave 2013 lineup was all locked in.

There was one act however, that was strangely missing from that second round of acts despite strong rumours that they’d be part of the announcement.

Namely Puscifer, the side-project for one Maynard James Keenan; and considering the Tool frontman was already locked to play Soundwave with the newly-reformed A Perfect Circle, the appearance of his other other band seemed like a perfect fit.

In fact, it seemed like a certainty ahead of the second lineup announcement to begin with, solidified when Keenan openly tweeted his fellow bandmates:

Keenan then batted away suggestions of his solo project appearing on the lineup, attempting to clarify by saying they were “confirming APC NOT Puscifer for Soundwave”, but today co-vocalist Carina Round has confirmed that the band will indeed be appearing as part of the Soundwave 2013 festival, again via twitter with a link leading to the Soundwave website:

So it looks like Maynard James Kennan will be making room on the schedule for not one, but two bands after all. Good news for Puscifer fans, but does this also mean that we can expect even more bands for the already bursting Soundwave Festival lineup? Could festival boss AJ Maddah be hiding a few more tricks up his sleeve?

That that the festival needs any, with the large majority of pre-sale tickets now allocated across each capital city, leaving about 15% of total tickets left for the general public sale which begins tomorrow.

Maybe along with the sale will be the wish fulfillment many are still holding their breath for, the announcement of Megadeth to complete the appearance of metal’s ‘Big Four’ on the lineup. Not likely given Maddah’s previous comments, shooting down the suggestion saying of Soundwave: “This is not a big 4 gig” - still, stranger things have happened…

With the likes of pop punks Blink 182 and The Offspring alongside more populist acts like Garbage, Paramore and Linkin Park, and it’s worth mentioning again – Metallica, Anthrax and Slayer on the same bill – Soundwave 2013 is arguably the biggest festival lineup of 2013. Does
