With a beautiful location at the Port Macquarie seaside, a BYO policy and with a smaller scale 3000 capacity viewing an intimate, single stage – it’s easy to see how Festival Of The Sun has become one of THE must attend music festivals in the last several years, complete with the awesome acronym FOTSUN.

This year will be no different with today’s first lineup announcement, featuring a strong lineup of Australian talent that’ll be lighting up the stage at Port Macquarie’s Sundowner Breakwall Tourist Park location this December 14th & 15th.

Leading the pack is the inimitable KIMBRA, who is currently lapping up both the national and international success of her first album, Vows, state-side, debuting at an impressive #14 chart position after its overnight release in May. With her talented band, the neo-soul maverick already won the hearts of fans and industry figures alike at SXSW 2011, and set to do it again at FOTSUN.

Joining the NZ-via-Melbourne songstress is a strong showing of Australia’s diverse talent, including prog act DEAD LETTER CIRCUS, the funk-hop of HERMITUDE, straight-up rockers THE DATSUNS and brilliantly talented roots duo BUSBY MAROU.

Also on the bill are rock rebels JACKSON FIREBIRD, visceral outfit THE CAIROS, dynamic garage animals DZ DEATHRAYS and Sub Pop’s first ever international signing, Melbourne’s HUSKY; plus many more.

If the fables of FOTSUNners past are anything to go by – weaving folklore and fond memories of the surf, sun and sounds – FOTSUN is a pitch perfect festival for those looking for a smaller, boutique experience away from the heaving masses of the larger name touring events.

Tickets for FOTSUN 2012 go on sale September 5, and considering the last few year’s record sell outs, you’ll need to get in quick.
