More Acts Added To Pyramid Rock Festival 2012

Written by Al Newstead on 31 August 2012

We’ve already had the announcements from larger New Year musical bashes, like the John Butler Trio-headlined Peats Ridge bill and the second round of bands locked in for Falls Festival; but not to be outdone, Philip Island’s Pyramid Rock Festival announced their first round lineup of bands that will be soundtracking the two-day, New Years extravaganza for 2012.

Along with international talent like agit-punk rockers Anti-Flag, the garage psychedelia of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, plus UK acts Blood Red Shoes and Friendly Fires; a bevy of Australian talent is already gracing the bill including John Butler Trio, 360, Karnivool, Children Collide, Xavier Rudd, Stonefield and many more.

Now Pyramid Rock has added its second round of acts to its end of year festivities.

Considered by peers and music-lovers alike to be one of music’s finest party artists, DJ YODA will be bringing his eclectic set to the dance-loving crowd, while a pair of Australia’s most talented songstresses have been added to the lineup – with GOSSLING to enchant and enrapture and KATE MILLER-HEIDKE to stir and stun.

The Kiwi chart-topping hip hop act HOME BREW will be travelling from New Zealand to the Philip Island event, while one of Australia’s most innovative electronic acts PNAU will be gracing the stage – fresh from their success from Say Good Morning To The Night, the Elton John/PNAU mash-up that went #1 in the UK.

Also joining the bill will be Melbourne’s 9-piece SASKWATCH, who will be delivering their soul-certified tunes from their excellent debut, Leave It All Behind (currently sitting proud as Tone Deaf’s Album of the Week); along with Melbourne’s THE SMITH STREET BAND – who have as much talent in songwriting as they do punk spirit in performance.

Last but not least, Sydney’s electropop ambassadors VAN SHE and drum and bass outfit SHOCKONE round out the second round of acts for Pyramid Rock Festival 2012.

Tickets go on sale next Tuesday 4th September at 9AM from WWW.THEPYRAMIDROCKFESTIVAL.COM

Most Memorable Festival Performances
Most Memorable Festival Performances

There’s a hell of a lot at stake when performing at a festival – potentially the biggest crowd of an artist’s career, being pitted against nature’s elements, sound and lighting that could go wrong at any moment. There’s the pressure to blow the act after you off stage, there’s the pressure to live up to hype and show that you are capable of pulling off a show on a massive stage. Mnay acts have come a cropper when trying to do this but many have risen to the occasion; the adrenaline and the massive crowds either overcoming them or proving that they are capable of being one of the best bands in the world.
