Grizzly Bear, Beirut & The War On Drugs Harvest 2012 Sideshows Announced

Having already been announced as part of Harvest Festival, Handsome Tours are pleased to reveal additional Australian tour dates for Grizzly Bear, The War On Drugs and Beirut this November.

Brooklyn’s much loved indie quartet Grizzly Bear catapulted to fame in 2006 following the release of their second album, the internationally acclaimed Yellow House. Their follow up Veckatimest debuted at #8 on the Billboard chart in 2009, and included the singles ‘Two Weeks’ and ‘While You Wait For The Others’.

It was highlighted as one of the year’s most lauded releases, ranking #1 on the NPR Listener‘s Poll and was included in Top 10 end of year lists for outlets such as The New York Times, Time Magazine, Pitchfork, SPIN and Sydney Morning Herald. On September 14th, Grizzly Bear will release their highly anticipated fourth album Shields.

Recorded over the better part of a year, the album represents the band’s most charged and concise collection of music to date, as heard in the singles ‘Sleeping Ute’ and ‘Yet Again’.

One of the most exciting rock’n’roll bands to emerge in recent years, Philadelphia’s The War on Drugs will tour Australia for the first time this November. Following several line up changes including the departure of founding member Kurt Vile, the four piece released their second album Slave Ambient in 2011 as the follow up to their 2008 debut Wagonwheel Blues.

It was recorded over several years at frontman Adam Granduciel’s studio, and is full of songs that feel both refreshingly new yet instantly identifiable. With tracks such as their single ‘Baby Missiles’ evoking the likes of Springsteen and Dylan, The War On Drugs craft nostalgic anthems with their signature brand of rock, folk, blues and everything in between.

Multi-instrumentalist Zach Condon began experimenting with his worldly sounds under the moniker of Beirut in his early teens, and in 2006 at the age of 19 he released his stunning debut album Gulag Orkestar to international praise. Following the release of 2007’s The Flying Club Cup, a love letter to France, many asked where his songs would voyage next.

Few predicted the inward journey that Condon took on his 2011 LP The Rip Tide, written in isolation during a snowy upstate winter. The album marks a stark change in emotional direction, while still maintaining the unmistakable aesthetic that has taken Beirut around the world many times, including a third journey to Australia this November.
