Billy Bragg Announces Final Melbourne Show

Billy Bragg Announces Final Melbourne Show

Written by Esther Semo on 21 September 2012

Viv Lees and Melbourne Festival are delighted to announce that due to overwhelming public demand Billy Bragg will be performing a third and final show in Melbourne at the Prince Bandroom on Tuesday 30 October.

In this special two part show Billy will be celebrating the legacy of Woody Guthrie, the original alternative musician in the first half of the show, and in the second exploring his own extensive repertoire, highlighting the songs that have made Billy Bragg famous over his almost three decade, 14-album career.

Billy Bragg is performing two other shows in Melbourne, co-presented with Melbourne Festival, the first at Hamer Hall, celebrating Woodie Guthrie, has only a few tickets remaining, the second at the Recital Centre, where Billy performs his own songs, has completed sold out.

“Performers with the confidence to stroll on stage with nothing but a guitar for support are a surprisingly common bunch. Performers with the songs and personality to transform such a simple arrangement into something immensely entertaining, even inspiring, are a rarer breed”. (Chicago Tribune)

Don’t miss Billy Bragg: “storyteller, historian, activist, father, enthusiast, pilgrim, entertainer, minstrel, humorist, rambler, sermoniser and scholar,” (The Guardian) at the 2012 Melbourne Festival.
