St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2013 Lineup Announced

Written by Al Newstead on 25 September 2012

The indie music lover’s festival of choice, St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival has this morning fulfilled on its initial promise of its self-proposed “mega dream lineup” with the rumour mill picking up speed for its 2013 lineup when organisers themselves teased punters with a few blog posts hinting at prospective acts for the festival.

Adding the international likes of Purity Ring, Daughter, Haim and Jessie Ware on top of the solid whispers of acts planned for the 2013 bill, stemming from leaked Australian tour announcements that coincided with the already announced February tour dates for Laneway.

Chief among them being the old-school guitar assault of Japandroid (also mentioned in Laneway’s Top 5 Buzz acts post), new indie supergroup Divine Fits, and Brooklyn boho-popsters Yeasayer; all who have let slip that they’ll be touring our shores early next year.

To the many predictions already thrown about, Laneway organisers responded:

While also saying that we can expect the ladies to make a strong showing for the 2013 lineup.

The teasing ends this morning, with the full lineup for Laneway Festival 2013 now revealed.

There’s a hell of a lot at stake when performing at a festival – potentially the biggest crowd of an artist’s career, being pitted against nature’s elements, sound and lighting that could go wrong at any moment. There’s the pressure to blow the act after you off stage, there’s the pressure to live up to hype and show that you are capable of pulling off a show on a massive stage. Mnay acts have come a cropper when trying to do this but many have risen to the occasion; the adrenaline and the massive crowds either overcoming them or proving that they are capable of being one of the best bands in the world. Join us as we count down some of the best festival performances ever. Watch this slideshow »
