Golden Plains Lucky Seven 2013 Lineup Announced

Is everyone festival’ed out yet? Not even close, right? While everyone is counting down the days until Meredith rears it beautiful, musical head once again, we can’t forget about Meredith’s equally wonderful sister festival Golden Plains.

Following on from confirmation that CAT POWER will be headlining, along with Mr. Funk himself GEORGE CLINTON AND PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC would be playing the festival, Golden Plains Lucky Seven has announced the rest of the lineup for its highly anticipated 2013 showing.

This morning it’s time to get excited, because here comes a whole lot more of Golden Plains’ musical deck.

What’ve they got in their bag of tricks this time? Well, that’d be everyone’s favourite alterna-rockers and Golden Plains veterans DINOSAUR JR. who are set to bring the noise down under following the release of their latest studio album I Bet On Sky (read the Tone Deaf review here). Joining the noisy trio will be Dylan-eque troubadour TALLEST MAN ON EARTH, whose heart-melting vocals are sure to please crowds at the resplendid Supernatural Amphitheatre.

Other acts gracing our shores for the festival will be JON SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION bring their sanctified outbursts and mind-bending riffs, while Canada’s 2012 buzz act PURITY RING are offering up their future-pop jams to audiences.

Bringing the soul all the way from Detroit this year will be MOODYMANN while TORO Y MOI promises to bring their disco-inspired chillwave.

Closer to home is the self-proclaimed “hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic” FLUME (cheers for the Isaac Hayes reference Aunty Meredith), the ever-rocking and often reclusive MARK OF CAIN, who are playing for the first time in years, as well as DICK DIVER, New Zealand’s OPOSSUM, and many more musical delights.

Now in its seventh year, an impressive list of acts (and more) will be filling out three magical days in March at the famed Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre, along with the usual BYO, One-Stage-Fits-All and “No Dickhead Policy” and lack of commercial sponsors to spoil the picturesque surrounds.

The Subscriber Ticket Ballot system is back in place to ensure the majority of the tickets go to Subscribers before the rest go on public. While round one is being drawn today, round two is still available for those that enter the Ballot at www.goldenplains.com.au. Tickets will be the same price as the last two years, and if you know your Golden Plains – you know that’s a reasonable fee for a grand time.
