Weezer Add One-Off Pinkerton Show To Australian Tour 2013

Though fans of Weezer already rejoiced in the news that the band would finally be fulfilling one of Australia’s most long-awaited tour announcements with their return to Australia for a tour in early 2013, after a sixteen year absence. But the real nerdgasm came with the news that the geek rock outfit would be playing their eponymous 1993 debut live, from start to finish.

What about those who preferred the band’s darker, rawer, zeitgeist-eschewing sophomore effort, 1996′s Pinkerton?

Well now fans in Melbourne have reason to lose their collective lids once more, with news that Weezer have added one very special extra show to the Melbourne leg of their 2013 tour, playing Pinkerton from start to finish, for one exclusive night at St. Kilda’s Palais Theatre on Thursday 17th January.

Support will come from Sydney’s Cloud Control and Brisbane’s Ball Park Music for all five dates of the national tour, including the newly announced Pinkerton show in Melbourne.

Weezer’s return early next year, will be the first time the band have graced our shores since way back in October 1996, for the first – and until now – only time, in support of the highly influential Pinkerton. Their absence from Australia has been so legendary, that many had long given up hope that they’d ever return.

Despite incessant rumours of potential tours and unrivalled fervour amongst fans, Chugg Entertainment finally wrangled the group for an Australian tour for January 2013.

The tour sees the band following off the back of their recent US concept shows, performing a collection of greatest hits and rarities from their two decade, eight album long career – including the performance of 1994′s The Blue Album in its entirety.
