Two More Acts Added To Soundwave 2013
Soundwave 2013 is already done and dusted, ticket sales-wise, with a massive lineup of 73 acts ensuring that the hard and heavy rock festival enjoyed a sell out across the country, with tickets for Melbourne and Brisbane putting up sold out signs in record time by mid-September. Now, as previously reported, two more acts have been confirmed for the mammoth lineup.
Soundwave boss and serial tweeter, AJ Maddah already teased that he’d be locking in two more bands for the 2013 lineup, which already contains the likes three of metal’s ‘Big Four’, with the second round announcement seeing Slayer joining headliners Metallica, and Anthrax; as well Blink 182 – complete with fear-of-flying drummer Travis Barker – in their first Australian show in over a decade.
Now Soundwave’s ranks will swell with the addition of Canadian pop punk act Living With Lions, and Creed/Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti.
The former hail from Vancouver and have three albums to their credit, including their latest studio album, 2011′s Holy Shit. A record that stirred some controversy surrounding the fact that the band’s record label, Black Box Recordings, received a financial loan from the Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent on Records (FACTOR), a government funded arts program; but when politicians caught wind of the agit-prop content of the album, they put pressure on the band to censor their album.
Instead, they gave back the funds for the record and asked fans for help, proving their punk credentials.
The other added act, Mark Tremonti, is best known as the lead guitarist for Creed before exiting to form his new rock outfit, Alter Bridge. He’s moonlighted as a solo artist outside of those bands since the early 00s, and will no doubt be bringing some of his musical mates to help him for his Soundwave 2013 appearance.
Living with Lions and Mark Tremonti join a huge list of names for the bill, which also contains Sidewaves from Blink 182 and Linkin Park, which you can view below.
