Wooden Shijps guitarist Ripley Johnson and Sanae Yamada emerged in 2009 ala San Francisco fusing the futuristic pylon hum and transistor reverb of Suicide or Silver Apples with the heat-haze fuzz of American rock ‘n’ roll to create tracks of blistering, 12-cylinder space rock. Starting out with their homage to Australia’s iconic SCIENTISTS covering “Set It On Fire” on their debut 7″ in 2009, whipped up with the droneful desire of “Motorcyle, I Love You” of Escape, then debut album Mazes, they return full album with Circles recorded during a long winter’s isolation in the Rocky Mountains.
