New Zealand multi-platinum, award-winning artist Tiki Taane returns to Australian shores this June for a series of special shows.

Renowned as much for his powerful, headlining performances as he is for the anthems he writes and produces, Tiki will bring his acoustic/MC show to Australia joined by dubstep heavyweight Optimus Gryme with support from Misfits of Zion.

Catch Tiki Taane performing on Friday 7 June at Selina’s at Coogee Bay Hotel in Sydney, Saturday 8 June at The Corner Hotel in Melbourne, and Sunday 9 June at the Hi Fi in Brisbane.

“ I can’t wait to hit Oz again and bring over my new music and merch for the fans! Last time was so epic and the support was very humbling. I hope to see you all again soon”, says Taane.

Tiki is no stranger to Australia’s shores, with over a decade of touring with Salmonella Dub under his belt, and more recently as a solo artist performing at some of Australia’s best loved festivals including Big Day Out, Homebake and Reggaetown.

Tiki’s extraordinary ability to rock the mic as both a gifted performance MC and as a solo acoustic performer is something to be experienced firsthand.

Affectionately known as ‘King of the Dubs’ in his home country, he is considered a pioneer in the New Zealand music scene with a career spanning nearly 20 years. No matter the set he performs, Tiki’s ability to unify, warm and wow an audience as he seamlessly delivers a unique performance experience is never forgotten.

Tiki rose to prominence as a member of leading New Zealand band Salmonella Dub, progressing from sound engineer to fully fledged front-man and penning some of the bands biggest hits including ‘Love Your Ways’ and ‘For the Love of It’, amongst others.

In January 2007, Tiki left Salmonella Dub to pursue a solo career resulting in the release of his debut album Past, Present, Future.

Spearheaded by the number 1 single ‘Always on My Mind’, the album went on to sell over double platinum in New Zealand, as well as collecting a swag of awards including the No 1 Release Amplifier Award in 2007 and Radio Airplay Artist of the Year – Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards in 2009.

‘Always on My Mind’ went on to break two all-time NZ records – spending 54 weeks inside the NZ singles chart and being the first-ever digital single to achieve platinum sales.

Most recently, Tiki produced the debut studio album (self-titled) for NZ band Six60 which debuted at No. 1 on the chart and was certified Gold in its first week.

Tiki has also produced albums for The Adults and Shapeshifter for whom he has been their live audio engineer for over a decade, accompanying them on all their tours and shows both locally and worldwide.

Nearly four years since the release of his multi-platinum selling album Past Present Future, Tiki returned to the studio with full force in 2011, pushing himself further than ever before as both a vocalist and a producer with his In the World of Light LP.

Following its release, Tiki picked up several awards throughout 2011 including Best Male Solo Artist, Best Electronica album, Best Maori Album – Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards and Best Maori Song, Best Maori Songwriter and Best Male Solo Artist – Waiata Maori Music Awards.

Tiki is currently working on a highly-anticipated live album for Australasian release this year.
