Both musically and personally, The Evening Cast have had a more eventful start to 2013 than most.

Back at the end of 2012 and the much-hyped 5 piece signed to new Melbourne label Catch Release Records, following which the band sold out their hometown EP launch and set their sights on their inaugural national tour.  However just a week out from the tour, The Evening Cast were halted when lead vocalists, husband and wife Joel and Rachel Cooper lost everything, including the bands recording studio and much of their touring gear in a tragic house fire.

Thanks to the support from Catch Release Records and Melbourne’s musical community and good friends Clare Bowditch, Mark Lang (Skipping Girl Vinegar), Luke Legs and Celadore, together, they bound together and held a benefit show to help raise funds to replace the musical equipment that was lost in the fire and to help The Evening Cast recuperate. What unfolded was an incredible act of generosity, love and overwhelming support from all involved.

Fast forward to 2013, The Evening Cast have rebuilt what was lost and have used this experience to inspire them creatively, musically and personally. The Evening Cast are proud to announce they will be triumphantly hitting the road once again in June and July, as a part of their ‘Lake’ National Tour. To those that know the band, it will come as no surprise that this tragic event has shaped The Evening Cast’s new passion and direction for their music and life in general.

The tour will see The Evening Cast share a stunning array of songs from the new EP ‘Lake’, which was shaped by ARIA award winning producer Marty Brown (Art Of Fighting, Clare Bowditch). The band will also be previewing brand new music that has been crafted over the last five months.

‘The highs and lows of life shape our creative flow, our creative expression and our need for creativity in general. We, as a band, have never been so ready to play our music and so ready to let the audience in. We have a new energy and vibrancy that has come from all of this, and we can not wait to share it with Australia.’ – Joel Cooper
