Melbourne’s Them Swoops are thrilled to announce the release of their debut EP Glimmers out June 14 through New York’s +1 Records (The Heavy, The Morning Benders). To celebrate they’ll be playing the Northcote Social Club on Saturday June 15 for the official EP Launch, and if Swoops’ last sold out headline show is anything to go by, fans better get in quick.
The EP will be a taste of things to come from the bands forthcoming album and will consist of prior shimmering-indie-pop singles ‘Work Around It’ and ‘Too Fast For Love’ plus the release of a brand new single ‘Rollerskate’. The band is also super excited to announce a remix of ‘Work Around It’ by Ben Browning from Cut Copy which will also be included on the EP, taking its place as a guaranteed party-starter.
Originally formed as a studio project by Dave McGann and Chris Goff in early 2012, over the last 18 months Them Swoops have steadily evolved, making waves nationally and internationally while forging an ever growing fanbase. From unknown Triple J Unearthed winners plucked from obscurity to selling out their debut headline show, to supporting the likes of The Maccabees, Ball Park Music, Birds of Tokyo, and The Rubens, to being added to influential USA radio station SiriusXM Alt Nation (the same station credited with breaking Foster The People and Grouplove in the US market).
The band have also just completed a national tour supporting Hungry Kids Of Hungary where they showcased a new line-up and stack of new material to glowing reviews.
An assured next step, Glimmers was self recorded and produced in Melbourne and mixed by LA based producer Mark Needham (The Killers, Bloc Party) and will be digitally released on June 14 through +1 Records.
Rounding out the night with their renowned devil-may-care attitude, The Greasers will also take the stage for a special one-off show. Fronted by Dominic Byrne, and consisting of members of New Gods, Little Red and Eagle & The Worm, they’ll be playing their Night to Night album in full, adding one more reason to get along to this killer night of music.
