The Laneway 2014 lineup has been announced, and following on from locking in the the dates and (some new) venues for the annual indie music festival, the full list of bands playing St Jerome’s Laneway Festival is here.

There’s been much speculation, some previous leaks, and even some major clues from the festival’s own promoters, but the speculation over Laneway’s tease of a lineup featuring “tomorrow’s superstars alongside the best of the underground” has now been announced.

Leading the list of bands hitting Australia to provide a summer festival soundtrack as the festival enters its ninth year running, is the return of Scottish synthpopsters CHVRCHES, as well as LA sister trio HAIM, and New Zealand’s record-breaking 16 year old, Lorde (all of whom were heavily rumoured for the Laneway 2014 lineup).

Also on the Laneway 2014 linuep is Jamie XX, uber-producer from British indie darlings the XX, British post-punk group Savages, the emotive sounds of Scottish band Frightened Rabbit, the punk attack of Parquet Courts, the super hip hop duo of El-P and Killer Mike for Run The Jewels, electronic major Four Tet, and new wave rap stars Earl Sweatshirt and Danny Brown.

There’s a strong local presence on the lineup too, including Sydney buzz band Jagwar Ma, rock queen Adalita, the Blue Mountains four-piece Cloud Control, the everyday guitar pop of Dick Diver, and l’guitar terrible Kirin J Callinan.

Exclusive to the Laneway 2014 lineup are performances from Sydney four-piece The Jezabels (who have begun work on a new album) and everyone’s favourite soul-infused psych garage trio, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, while Warpaint will be making a long awaited return to Australia.

There’s plenty further down the Laneway 2014 lineup to enjoy also, with a great mix of indie rock, electronic masters, emerging international artists and plenty of homegrown talent, including The Growl, King Krule, HAERTS, Mt Warning, XXYYXX, Youth Lagoon, Vance Joy, and many more.

Along with the Laneway 2014 lineup there are some venue changes as well.

The Adelaide leg will be relocating to the “historic site” of Harts Mill, Port Adelaide, moving away from its former home at Fowler’s Live and UniSA West Courtyards. As previously reported, Perth has also undergone a venue change as part of a new five year deal that sees the festival relocating to the Esplanade Park and West End in Fremantle, located next to the Fishing Boat Harbour and Bather’s Beach, lending a seaside feel and breeze to the musical proceedings.

General tickets go on sale Thursday 3rd October. Full details on the Laneway Festival offical website. Visa Entertainment are holding an exclusive pre-sale with run for 24 hours from 12 Noon Monday 30th September or until tickets sell out.
