Now that Beady Eye, The Hives, and Deftones have been sorted as the Blur replacements on the Big Day out 2014 lineup, festival promoter AJ Maddah has turned his attention back to Soundwave 2014.

The annual hard and heavy festival already has a hefty 88 bands on the bill, but as Maddah previously hinted at the time of the second massive lineup announcement, there is likely to be a third addition of bands to the Soundwave 2014 lineup.

In fact, one of them has been confirmed but is now having troubles overcoming immigration issues to get Down Under to perform at the festival.

Post-hardcore act Falling In Reverse are set to play Soundwave 2014 but polarising frontman Ronnie Radke is having issues with his visa, as Maddah revealed on twitter overnight, as FasterLouder points out, noting he “won’t announce” the confirmation until its sorted. (Isn’t tweeting the same as announcing? That’s a chicken/egg conundrum.)

It seems Radke’s visa troubles have been grounding the band for some time. Maddah had indicated Falling In Reverse’s Australian visit as far back as September in a tweet saying they were “confirmed“, putting them in the rumour mill as part of this month’s just-wrapped Vans Warped Tour. “Fuck you to anybody who says that I can’t do what I want to do.”

“Coming to Australia is all I think about but I’m just waiting until we can go,” Radke told Tone Deaf in an interview way back in June about the band’s second album, Fashionably Late, with the heavily tatooteed frontman defending himself against ‘the haters’ of the band’s genre-muddying brand of hardcore (as heard in ‘Alone‘).

“I expected the reaction that we received, how could I not when you’re talking crap to people,” says the 27-year-old vocalist come rapper, whose band mixes elements of trap, metal, hardcore, and even J-pop, country, and dubstep.

“Fuck you to anybody who says that I can’t do what I want to do,” added Radke. “I expected people to be mad, but we’re doing something right if it is causing such a rift… People are so shocked, and honestly I have interpreted that as the band doing something right.”

Aside from his perceived musical misdemeanours, Radke also has a string of criminal convictions and arrests, including domestic assault against his girlfriend, aggravated assault at a concert, and a two year prison term, from 2008, after violating parole on a drug possession offence, which may or may not be contributing to the visa snag (interestingly it’s not the first time that a band with drug arrests has caused problems with an Aussie festival lineup).

Whether Falling In Reverse have their visa issues cleared in time or not, the third Soundwave 2014 lineup announcement – which “will have a few internationals” according to Maddah – could arrive before the end of th year. A recent tweet from the Big Day Out/Soundwave/Warped promoter indicating he was “hoping to announce before Christmas.”

As for who could be on it, expect two yet-to-be-announced Melbourne bands to make the cut – namely the award-winning thrash group King Parrot, all but confirmed in September, and self-described “Psychedelic Reggae Ska Doom Metal Punk Rock From Hell,” The Bennies.
