The Eavis Family has received the go ahead from the local council to stage the festival until 2016. The application was approved by Mendip District Council without any objections or requiring a hearing to take place.

The festival won’t happen next year, however, as it would clash with the London Olympics. The festival which usually occurs on the last weekend in June, sees the usually sleepy part of Somerset become one of the biggest towns in the west of England as up to 200,000 musos, staff and punters descend on the area.
