Stone Temple Pilots Soundwave 2014 Sidewaves have been announced.
Following on from a batch of Soundwave 2014 sidewaves being announced this morning, Stone Temple Pilots are now confirmed to be playing two intimate theatre shows in Melbourne and Sydney.
Having sold nearly 40 million records worldwide, Stone Temple Pilots return to Australia, with replacement Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington, for the first next month.
The band released their debut EP with their new frontman, titled High Rise, on October 11th 2013 to an awesome response from Stone Temple Pilot fans nationally! The EP features 5 tracks, including the band’s US #1 mainstream and active rock radio single, ‘Out of Time.’
The sideshows at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and Melbourne’s Palais Theatre, will see Stone Temple Pilots playing a handful of new tunes as well as staples like ‘Vasoline’ and ‘Trippin’ On A Hole In A Paper Heart’.
Sure former vocalist Scott Weiland isn’t too happy about being booted from the band he helped form, suing his former STP bandmates to the tune of $5 million, but as he recently told Billboard, he’s got no beef with Bennington himself – with Noisecreep pointing out that the issue has even reached Weiland’s own solo shows, apologising to fans over the emotional fight between the two parties.
Still, until a judge rules otherwise, it seems the Linkin Park-enhanced STP are free to continue playing the back catalogue in concert.
The Stone Temple Pilots 2014 Sidewaves announcements join the co-headline shows from Rob Zombie & Korn, as well as Alter Bridge & Living Colour, and Placebo – the first in a series of “HEAPS more great news rolling out today and all of next week.”
That includes the third Soundwave 2014 lineup announcement, which will be announced at 8pm AEDT tonight (Friday 17th February).
Following on from the public dispute between Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah and Sevendust, after the later cancelled on their festival appearance, the Soundwave 2014 lineup is set to grow again with the third lineup announce, which will include more international acts and beefing up the massive 60+ bill.
