The first details of the Triple J One Night Stand 2014 have been revealed.

This year’s edition of the station’s annual rural concert will take place on Saturday 17th May, and though the event’s location is yet to be revealed (set for unveiling this Thursday), Triple J have already announced the first batch of Aussie artists who will be packing their bags to perform in front of the lucky township.

Playing the free, all-ages concert this year will be celebrated Aussie hip hop act Illy. The Melbourne MC is in the middle of a national tour in support of his latest album, Cinematic, after landing two tracks in the Triple J Hottest 100: ‘Youngbloods’, featuring The Amity Affliction’s Ahren Stringer, and his Ausmusic Month medley for Like A Version.

Also playing One Night Stand 2014 is another well-toured act, singer-songwriter Dan Sultan, who has been playing a wealth of live shows recently both large (supporting the reformed Hunters & Collectors) and intimate, namely his solo Under Your Skin Tour, named after Sultan’s forthcoming forth full-length studio album.

Brisbane’s The Jungle Giants are also on the One Night Stand 2014 lineup. Currently appearing at SXSW as one of a record breaking number of Aussie acts attending the industry conference, the guitar pop quartet’s regional commitments include their own headline tour kickstarting later this month as well as a slot on the Groovin’ The Moo 2014 lineup following releasing their debut, Learn To Exist, last year.  “You can just picture the One Night Crowd going ballistic to certified rock anthems like ‘In The Aisle’ and ‘Covered In Chrome’.”

Rounding out the regional bill is Violent Soho, the grunge disciples are also set for Groovin’ The Moo 2014 after enjoying a successful 12 months off the back of their long-awaited third studio effort, Hungry Ghost. You can just picture the One Night Crowd going ballistic to certified rock anthems like ‘In The Aisle’ and ‘Covered In Chrome’ (which landed at #13 in the Hottest 100).

Illy, Dan Sultan, and The Jungle Giants, and Violent Soho will be joined by one more Australian artist, as well as a Triple J Unearthed act, with the remainder of the One Night Stand 2014 lineup to be revealed later today. In annual tradition, the entire event will also be broadcast live on air.

UPDATE 11/03: The last act for the One Night Stand 2014 lineup is none other than umlaut-loving indie electro trio RÜFÜS. The band’s appearance for Triple J’s rural event will be squeezed amongst the band’s massive national tour – their last before bunkering down in Berlin to work on a follow-up to #1 debut album, Atlas, which tied with The Drones as the second best Aussie Album of 2013 according to Tone Deaf readers.

“Triple J’s One Night Stand concerts are always a huge celebration for the lucky regional town we work with to host the event,” says Triple J Manager Chris Scaddan. “We’re proud to be taking such a diverse mix of Australian acts along in 2014.  But really, the One Night Stand is for everyone. Wherever you are on May 17, you can party with us in person, or live on the radio, TV and online.”

Last year’s event hosted in Dubbo, NSW featured Flume, The Rubens, Ball Park Music and Seth Sentry, while the 2012 One Night Stand brought a record 15,000 strong crowd despite the Dalby-hosted event being washed out by flash floods which canned the headline slot by The Temper Trap.

Previous One Night Stand locations have invited music lovers to road trip to regional towns such as Tumby Bay in South Australia (2011), to catch Birds Of Tokyo, The Jezabels, and Art Vs. Science, and Alice Springs (2010) to see John Butler Trio, Gyroscope, Bluejuice, and Megan Washington.

Beginning in 2004 at Natimuk, Victoria, other One Night Stand locations include Ayr, QLD (2005); Port Pirie, SA (20060); Cowra, NSW (2007); Collie, WA (2008); and Sale, VIC (2009) with various lineups including Eskimo Joe, Grinspoon, Hilltop Hoods, Shihad, The Living End, Silverchair, Midnight Juggernauts, Miami Horror, and even End Of Fashion (which is bitterly ironic given their recent stance on Triple J).
