A Something For Kate 20th Anniversary Tour has been announced, along with lavish reissues of the band’s albums and a short film and book to commemorate the band’s history.

This year, the much loved Melbourne trio – Paul Dempsey, Clint Hyndman, and Stephanie Ashworth – celebrate their 20th birthday with a career-spanning tour that’s set to be their biggest and most ambitious set of shows to date.

Something For Kate will also be reissuing all six of their albums on vinyl, deluxe CD, and iTunes as well as screening a short film tracing their 20 year evolution and releasing Paper Trail, a book that visually chronicles their two decade-long career.

The ’20 Year Anniversary Tour’ will see Something For Kate playing at some of their most beloved Australian live music venues and for the first time in their history, the band will play two sets each night, covering all facets of their decorated discography: hits, B-sides, rarities, fan favourites – you name it.

Each historic show will also set the tone for the evening with a screening of a short film by Callum Preston, tracing Something For Kate’s evolution from a young Melbourne band in 1994 (with original bassist Julian Carroll) named in honour of Dempsey’s dog, through to their present day status as one the most nationally revered and consistently successful acts Australia has produced. Something For Kate will also be reissuing all six of their albums on vinyl, deluxe CD, and iTunes…

A companion piece marking this evolution, a book titled Paper Trail, will also be available on sale at the merch desk at each leg of the Something For Kate 20th Anniversary Tour, as well as through the online store.

Dempsey, Hyndman, and Ashworth will be on hand at the end of each concert to meet-and-greet fans, sign memorabilia, and generally say ‘thanks’ to their dedicated fanbase that they’ve made a personal connection with.

Most exciting of all for SFK completists is news that the same day the career-spanning tour kicks off, on Friday 4th July in Perth, each Something For Kate album will be re-issued on vinyl in a limited edition run for the first time ever, with each LP in the band’s discography having been out of print since selling out immediately upon their initial release (while 2006’s Desert Lights was never issued on wax to begin with).

In addition, each release will be issued on Deluxe CD, with a bonus disc covering all B-sides, rarities, and some exclusive extra tracks – allowing a complete portrait of the band’s career that only the most devoted of Something For Kate has had access to until now.

Tickets for all shows go on sale at 9am local time on Friday 11th April from www.somethingforkate.com. Be sure to take your part in what is set to be a fitting live celebration of one of Australia’s most fiercely loved and significant acts of the last two decades.
