As the seasons turn blue, so too does Australia’s travelling music festival circuit grow cold, with a scant handful of festivities to gain excitement for over the icier months.

It’s no wonder that the one burning star of Australia’s winter, Splendour In The Grass in Byron Bay, falls victim to the loosest of lips in speculation to grossly anticipated lineup of the late-July musical extravaganza. But worry not! The team at Splendour have at last detailed their lineup release date, set for late April.

As Splendour In The Grass’ official Facebook points out, Wednesday 23rd of April is the day the curtains fall and reveal the festival’s 2014 lineup. There are two Australian confirmations for the festival – the rising dancefloor extraordinaire Yahtzel and Melbourne-based croonster Chet Faker, who spoke with Purple Sneakers last week, confirming he was once again set to charm the hearts of the Splendour audience.

But hold up, Chet Faker is in fact not performing at Splendour In The Grass of 2014.

As Purple Sneakers’ print read, Murphy was probed to comment on this year’s instalment of Splendour In The Grass, to which he stated, “yeah, for sure! – Isn’t the better question, when was the last time a festival booked the same artist three years in a row?” causing a whirlwind of excitement, many affirming that the ‘Talk Is Cheap’ singer was Byron-bound for 2014.

However, in a more recent discussion held with Music FeedsFaker has quashed any rumour confirmations, cementing that he is not performing at Splendour In The Grass in 2014. “That’s right. I’m not performing at it this year…”

“That’s right. I’m not performing at it this year” he stated. Attributing such confusion was a loss in translation which, as Murphy notes “happens all the time” within the music industry.

If you were rubbing your hands together at the prospect of grabbing some Faker’s beard for 2014’s Splendour In The Grass, fear not. Faker is set for headline dates “this year, hopefully” within Australia in support of his debut record, Built On Glass; “a fine start to a career, but perhaps not the album that we were all waiting for,” our Tone Deaf reviewer wrote.

Before the day of judgement falls upon us, the rumour mill of prediction has been spun out of control, detailing hot tips for the festivities including the likes of UK power-trio London Grammar, Metronomy, Circa Waves and recent visitors Mikhael Paskalev and Sky Ferreria.

In addition to this, many conduct a cross-comparison with Japan’s stunning Fuji Rock Festival that falls on the same weekend as Splendour, suggesting the Aussie festival may witness the reformed hip-hop heavy weights Outkast headlining (following their Coachella debut), as well as: Foster The People, Lorde, Damon Albarn, The Pains of Being Pure At HeartBasement Jaxx, Manic Street Preachers, Franz Ferdinand, SBTRKT, Bombay Bicycle Club, Jungle, Bloody Beetroots, and Australia’s own John Butler Trio.

Then there’s the bands that played the Splendour & Falls Festival SXSW 2014 showcase; namely Skaters, Basecamp, De Lux, Drowners, Tor Miller, Wolf Alice, Jetta, BBC Sound of 2014 picks Chlöe Howl and Royal Blood, plus Gossling and Dune Rats.

With Wednesday 24th of April just over a week away, the excitement for what is a staple in the Australian music festival goers diet only grows stronger.
