The Perisher Peak Festival 2014 lineup has expanded as the Aussie event edges closer to the kick-off of its sixth edition.

Formerly known as the Perisher Snowy Mountains Festival, this year’s event takes place over four days during the June long weekend and is distinguished by combining live music and bands with skiing, atop the peaks of NSW’s Snow Mountains range.

Now packing their snowboots and joining the Perisher Peak 2014 lineup is The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra. The ARIA-nominated brainchild of Zvi Belling, Ethan Hill (aka DJ Manchild) and Tristan Ludowyk have stunned crowds at Bluesfest to Womadelaide, and bringing their tribal rhythms and solid West African stylish grooves for an Afro-music showdown in the snow.

Also newly joining the bill this month is the return of Claude Hay, and his band The Gentle Enemies. Mixing heavy rock edge with roots flavours, Hay and his band may just cause an avalanche wit their full throttled, thumping blues, fresh from the road with a swag of new material. Other new additions are cool crooner Jordan C Thomas and his six-piece horn ensemble, as well as up-and-coming 16-year-old songwriter Vendulka.

Also on the Perisher Peak Festival 2014 lineup is seminal Aussie hip hop collective The Herd, the earthy tones of charmers The Little Stevies, 70s folk icon Gleen Cardier, acclaimed Indigenous performer Shellie Morris, Ethiopian-via-Down Under star Dereb And The Ambassadors, all among a total of over 35 artists ranging from blues, roots, folk, bluegrass, pop, soul, hip-hop, and more across eight on-snow stages. …combining live music and bands with skiing, atop the peaks of NSW’s Snow Mountains range.

The sights and sounds of the stunning alpine landscape will light up from Friday 6th June to Monday 9th June, the official opening to the snow season. Perisher Peak is presented by the Perisher Resorts Chamber of Commerce and led by veteran musician David De Santi who has been the Artistic Director of the famed Illawarra Folk Festival since 1996 and is a member of one of Australia’s most famous bush bands, Wongawilli (also playing on the 2014 lineup.
