The second release from the vintage styled British singer, Fall To Grace is Paloma Faith’s second album and the follow up to her 2009 debut; Do You Want The Truth Or Do You Want Something Beautiful?

The album conveys much of the singer’s personality, it’s soulful and sweet, with a mixture of pop ballads and dark, nostalgic music. One of the standout tracks on the album is the song “Freedom”, Faith’s powerful and soulful voice igniting its lyrics.

“Just Be” is a slower turn on the album, with a beautiful piano accompaniment, Faith’s voice bringing something fresh to the somewhat predictable lyrics, featuring lines like “let’s grow old together/let’s be happy forever.” They may seem obvious, but they’re carried beautifully by Faith’s luminescent lungs.

Although the album provides a mixture of soulful melodies and upbeat tracks, somehow it flickers between being a soul record or a pure pop release wavers. Its identity is somewhat lost in the wide variety of songs, that don’t quite click together as a flowing album, and are more like a collaboration of singles from a variety of places.

Faith is definitely a daydreamer, with her head in the clouds, and this translates well in to the music she has produced for this album. As a well-rounded, girly pop album, Fall To Grace isn’t going to advocate any musical revolutions anytime soon, but it’s certainly not a letdown for Paloma Faith fans.
