Ever looked at your dirty laundry and thought 'that'd make an ace album cover!' Yeah, neither have we - but someone has. The anonymous artist at The Sock Covers has dedicated himself to recreating music's iconic arwork with the ol' foot sleeves. So in the words of the Beastie Boys, "kick off your shoes and relax your socks" as we take you through a gallery of some of our favourites.

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon
The iconic album cover from Pink Floyd's seminal 1973 album looks slightly less impressive as a pile of socks.
The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico
Andy Warhol's infamous cover to the 1967 sleeve transforms his iconic banana logo into a crumpled piece of laundry.
Wire - Pink Flag
This one's pretty self-explanatory. 'Why Socks!?' you ask? Well, the anonymous artist replies, "sometimes to limit oneself can give great creative opportunities. And I have fuck loads of socks."
The Strokes - Is This It
Who would've thought this faithful recreation would lose any of its original sauciness, even as a pair of greying explorers?
The Black Keys - Chulahoma
Somehow, a piece of laundry as a weapon is less intimidating and striking as an album cover.
Hot Chip - Made In The Dark
The anonymous master behind the sock-reations must just be really bored right? "Not really, I have a busy and happy life. Spending a few minutes each day doing something a little bit creative is really good for you." Yeah, like balling up a pair of socks to imitate Hot Chip's third studio album.
Bob Dylan - Blonde On Blonde
Somehow wearing a scarf of checkered, crossword style socks just doesn't communicate that rock star vibe. Still, you might need to look twice, alright?
Rage Against The Machine - Renegades This sock collage looks more like a Playschool work of art than an album cover, just imagine if Rage Against The Machine's cover album smelling of pongy feet!
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones Actually a pretty spot-on representation of this cover - makes socks look classier than crazy arts and crafts!
The Smiths - Meat Is Murder Hmm... a sock beanie seems to take away some of the seriousness of this record artwork. The anonymous sock-artiste says his sock art is "a creative outlet for the music geek inside... I’m holding up some beautiful examples of album art."
Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation There's not much that can be said about this one... except that let's hope that toe sleeve isn't highly flammable.
Bloc Party - Turn On The Bright Lights Without having Interpol's debut album sleeve for reference, it's easy to confuse this as simply a hot water bottle wtih bucket of popcorn, what do you think?
Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam Socks shaped into an avocado - probably just as random as having an avocado on an album cover to begin with.
Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak Socks, balloons - there's always another use for those old, household objects that never seem to get thrown away.
Metallica - Black Album It seems more like a sock puppet than snake, which loses a little bit of the impact. Maybe it's one of Lars Ulrich's old tennis socks?
Santogold - Santogold Although spewing out glitter is odd in the first place, the connection is obvious - gold glitter representing Santo-gold (back when Santigold was Santogold). Not sure if Santo-sock has the same appeal.
The Rolling Stones- Voodoo Lounge Rolling Stones 22nd(!) album features a sock character that seems like some extra on an odd children's television show... Teletubbies evil cousin perhaps?
Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf
Again, a sock makes an intimidating object look far less so. Case in point, the QOTSA pitchfork. We know which one we'd rather be stabbed by.-
