The Band Vs The Fan
Every band has their bad days. How they handle a rowdy crowd member can vary wilding however. We take a look at some of the funniest, and most shocking moments when the band takes on their fans in a spectacular fashion on stage. Enjoy.
Josh Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age)
At a festival in Norway, Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme is hit in the head with a bottle by a fan. Annoyed, Homme some how convinces the fan to come forward to the photo pit where he bottles him back.
Axl Rose (Guns N Roses)
At a Guns N Roses concert in St Louis, Axl Rose gets annoyed when he spots a fan recording the concert on film. When security are too slow to react Axl dives into the audience and tackles the fan. A riot ensues after the band refuse to play any more blaming poor security resulting in an estimated $200,000 in damages.
Angus Young (AC/DC)
At an AC/DC show in Phoenix, Arizona a fan throws a glass of beer at guitarist Angus Young unprovoked halfway during the breakdown of Badboy Boogie. Angus walked over and pointed the guy out to security. Another drink then drenches Angus who furiously takes his guitar off and lowers himself down to the fan. When he is within reach he pinches the guys nose and hurls what were no doubt a few choice words. The offender was then lead out by security but the show continued uninterrupted.
Keith Richards (The Rolling Stones)
During a Stones show at Hampton Coliseum in 1981 a fan jumps on stage to try and grab Keith Richards discarded vest. Not partial to a stage invasion Keith takes off his guitar and proceeds to hit the man multiple times with it. Almost effortless he then put the guitar back on and keeps playing like nothing happened.
Not all fights happen on stage with fans however, in 2006 Indie band Shit Disco were playing Rock N Roll Cinema when during their last song they ask repeatedly for the guitar to be turned up in the drummers monitor. How does the disgruntled sound guy respond? He jumps on stage and head butts lead singer Joel Stone of course!
Just when you thought a KISS concert couldn't get any funnier comes this clip of Paul Stanley taking to task a member of the audience who has been using a laser pointer on the members of the band. KISS find out the hard way that it's hard to take someone seriously when they look that ridiculous.
As any one will tell you if you're going to travel to Africa, don't go around wearing expensive looking jewellery. 50 Cent obviously didn't get the memo as he learns the hard way from a fan that jumps on stage and steals the rappers gold chain right off his neck. Classic.
Ian Brown (The Stone Roses)
During a concert in San Francisco the former front man for The Stone Roses gets into an altercation with a staff member. Although we're not sure why it started the staff member escalates the war of words after he tries to take a swing at the rocker. Brown's entourage quickly seize upon the man and well....kick the shit of him. Even Brown gets a few shots. Note to self, never cross Ian Brown.
Fantasy for women around the globe, Enrique gets a little too close to some fans at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. One fan latches onto the singer and refuses to let go. What happens next will be familiar to many of those with younger siblings. Enrique takes it in good stride however, although we'd be more than a little freaked out.
Headlining a festival in Portugal, the first time the band had played in the country, Nickelback get a rather cool reception with rocks pelting the stage. The lead singer stop mid-song and makes the mistake of asking if there are any Nickelback fans in the audience. The silence is almost deafening and when he turns around someone throws a water bottle hitting him in the head. Nickelback cancel the rest of the show but we're left with a seriously funny clip.
