In 2014, Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney told The Seattle Times, “My whole thing about music is: if somebody’s making money then the artist should be getting a fair cut of it. The owner of Spotify is worth something like 3 billion dollars… he’s richer than Paul McCartney and he’s 30 and he’s never written a song.”

Yesterday, Carney stopped fighting the inevitable march of time and technology, announcing on Twitter that The Black Keys have finally put their music on Spotify. They didn’t strike a deal either, as Carney explains, adding he is “still apprehensive”.

El Camino is the only record not available on the streaming service, although both smash singles from that album, ‘Lonely Boy’ and ‘Gold On The Ceiling’, are.

Just last month, fellow holdouts Radiohead added their music to Spotify, while The Beatles catalogue went online last Xmas Eve, after years of negotiations. The times, they are a changin’.
