Driving beats and rockin bass that draws you in… Frantic and fast Fugazi style strumming to finger picked solos and even some wah thrown in for good ol warm and fuzzy measure… At times they were punked up and furious with short and sharp songs, then they’d throw in some hints of stoner or some dirty swamp blues and that got me really hooked. Fuckin’ awesome solo’s as well!” – Something Sweet To Throw Away

“Their ballsy rock sound drips with attitude and disclaim that fills every inch of the room. Their menacing presence is unmistakable as they throw themselves and their instruments around the stage while a growing crowd of nodding heads builds before them.” – Stephan White / Veri.Live Magazine

“Awesome! Such a good riff, and just as you’re thinking it’s gonna fall into boring predictable rock territory that pre-chorus lifts if out, just in the nick of time.” RAIN – Lindsay McDougall, Triple J

The best parts of punk and sludgy rock seems like an odd pair… you obviously haven’t heard Fangs.
Fangs have spent the last year developing their own sound, recording, playing shows and establishing a reputation within the local scene as a solid rock outfit that knows how to party and make your ears bleed.

2010 saw the independent release of Fangs debut release, the One Punch / Rain double A side single. In 2011 the band continued to smash it releasing their first album The Junkyard. Veri.live Magazine released a 7” vinyl split with The Meanies and Fangs featuring “one punch” this was released on Issue 3 of the Magazine. Fangs were also featured on the fist2face aussie sampler.

Very Handsome newcomer Hanni El Khatib is headed to Australia, celebrating the release of his debut album ‘Will The Guns Come Out’.

A first generation American son of Palestinian and Filipino immigrants, El Khatib combines his love of skateboarding and punk rock with 1950s and 60s classic Americana on his rocking release.

Described by the man himself as ‘knife fight music’, Hanni’s debut album packs a punch with Gritty Licks and Raw Tones. Songs like Build.Destroy.Rebuild had us toe-tapping and elbow-swinging long before we even knew the words.

Already announced as part of Pyramid Rock and Peats Ridge festivals, punters now have the opportunity to catch Hanni El Khatib in Very Special performances at The Tote in Melbourne, and FBi Social in Sydney. Don’t miss what is sure to be one of the breakout acts of 2011 in these amazingly intimate locations this summer.

Melbourne rock lads, Redcoats will be celebrating the release of their self-titled debut EP which features ‘Dreamshaker’ a favourite on Triple j earlier in the year, with a sold out single launch at the Tote.

Hailing from the inner ‘burbs and country Victoria, Redcoats take on the Northcote Social Club once again (after showcasing their music video for ‘Giants’ in 2010) and pay tribute to their regional up bringings playing in Benalla and Warnambool, to showcase the follow up single ‘Kay Trucker’ from the EP with special guests Immigrant Union and Wolfy & The Bat Cubs.

Recorded at Birdland Studios by Rob Long (Shihad, Magic Dirt) and Lindsay Gravina (The Living End, Even), the EP is sure to take Redcoats to the next level, already been described as an unmissable live act.

“They sound like they’ve been playing together for thirty years…and there is no shortage of genius in this grinding, epic single” (Beat Magazaine 2001).

The dream to take the ‘Hobo Monkey into Space’ comes as SGV prepare to launch their new single and one of the year’s summer anthems ‘Chase the Sun’. The events will be captured on film for the band’s next film clip and will be released as part of their ‘Chase the Sun’ east-coast tour across Oct – Nov. Watch this space…pardon the pun…

Having recently launched their critically-acclaimed sophomore album ‘Keep Calm, Carry the Monkey’, the next single and forthcoming ‘Chase the Sun’ tour heralds the start of summer – a song about winding the windows low, cranking your favorite track and running as far and as fast as you can from the city’s dust into the arms of your favorite coastal town. The track unravels the euphoria that comes as you chase the sun and see the ocean come into sight, the afterglow across the rock pools and the night swimming that ensues.

In case you missed their packed show at the Melbourne Arts Centre in June, Skipping Girl Vinegar are heading out on the road throughout October / November, taking over the Northcote Social Club on Friday 14 October before the Vanguard in Sydney on 21 October.

After that they head to Queensland, playing the Gold Coast as well as the iconic Joe’s Waterhole in Eumundi and Beetle Bar in Brisbane (3 – 5 November). The tour rounds out in Tasmania with shows in Launceston and Hobart on November 11 & 12.

Chase the Sun features a melodic hook reminiscent of a pack of demented Muppets that will rattle round your head for days. Meantime watch the skies. The Hobo Monkey is coming.

Cherry Bar in AC/DC Lane Melbourne is proud to announce that it’s bringing out the best blues rock garage punk band in the known Universe, The Bloody Hollies from San Diego California. Two shows only for Australia. Both shows at Cherry Bar. Seen the latest Festival line-ups? Where’s the rock n roll you ask? Where else? Cherry.

Yours Until the Bitter End is The Bloody Hollies’ follow-up to the highly praised Who to Trust, Who to Kill, Who to Love which was released in 2007 on Alive Naturalsound. Many who are familiar with the band’s sound know them by their trademark murder-themed blues/rock anthems that remind listeners of the ’60s and ’70s golden age of rock & roll. The new album still embraces the dark side of raw garage punk, but comes armed with a more eclectic array of songwriting and musicianship. But don’t let the touches of organ, violin and xylophone fool you, the band’s hybrid of blues and rock & roll continue to shine more impressively than ever. The Bloody Hollies recorded in San Diego, but enlisted the expertise of Jim Diamond in Detroit, a familiar friend of the band that helped bring the sound of this record to its full potential.

Yours Until the Bitter End is a work that reflects a lengthy career that fully embraces The Bloody Hollies’ vast influences while at the same time maintaining the quartet’s unique sound of explosive, over-driven mayhem balanced with intelligently thought-out songwriting. What is most impressive about The Bloody Hollies, however, is the diversity of their strengths, ranging from ’70s classic rock, Americana blues, to an even power-pop songwriting style. Wesley Doyle’s voice is stronger than ever and continues to shine, complimenting Joseph Horgen’s unique slide blues guitar style. The rhythm section of Matthew Bennett (drums) and Erik Noorgard (bass guitar) are as solid as ever and work together perfectly on this record which will go down as The Bloody Hollies’ most impressive to date.

In 1977, the dawn of punk, the Misfits were born. This year, over three decades later, they descend on Australia, with a legacy of musical history that has withstood the test of time. The Misfits hit up Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide in November / December.

From inception, the Misfits were primal. Their music was aggressive, confrontational and dangerous with violent lyrics, coupled with timeless vocal melodies bred from 1950’s rock and roll. Immortalizing black and white horror films in their music, the Misfits developed a ghoulish and totally unique persona. It was the early days of anarchy and they had created a rebellion all of their own.

The Misfits have endured hardcore’s heyday as punk rock’s monster squad, a band whose cult following – a coven known as the Fiend Club – inspired them to continue to write, record and tour. Influential rock peers Guns ‘n Roses, Metallica, My Chemical Romance, Hatebreed, NoFX and Sick Of It All, are amongst some who have offered musical tributes in ode to the Misfits.

It is the Misfits’ all-encompassing and fierce DIY mentality that continues to drive their efforts. They craft their own instruments – from their guitars, amps and drums – down to the studded leather and jackets, and their own elaborate stage sets. Highly collectible and sought after memorabilia featuring the iconic “Fiend Skull” has appeared in films and on television and continues to be worn publicly by actors, musicians and athletes. The impact of the Misfits and their music on pop culture has become a phenomenon in and of itself.

Today, they remain more topical and more sought after than ever before. After a split with former singer Glenn Danzig in the mid 1980′s and a decade-long legal battle, the band are now fronted by founding member Jerry Only (Bass/Vocals) with former Black Flag alum Dez Cadena on guitar, and Eric ‘El Chupacabra’ Arce (formally of Murphy’s Law) behind the kit. The Misfits continue to sell out shows and draw thousands of fans night after night around the globe.

One thing is certain, The Misfits are here to stay and once again, every day is Halloween.
