On Tuesday 3 July, Billboard will open its doors to its clients, media, music industry taste makers and friends to showcase the years of fantastic live music that Billboard The Venue has presented to Melbourne’s countless live music lovers. The venue has gone through it’s fair share of incarnations, with its origins in 1965 as Lido Theatre to the late 70’s as Total Theatre and fast forwarding to the venue as we know it, Billboard The Venue.

Billboard will also showcase a wall dedicated to the history of the building and the establishment of the venue in the 60’s as a cabaret club with dancers, dinners and matinee shows.

The surrounding walls will be covered with signed, backstage shots of artists who have played over the years. No genre has been ignored as we see ska band Reel Big Fish next to Hip Hop definers De La Soul that flows through to blues siblings Kitty, Daisy and Lewis. All genres have been ticked and no stone left overturned in presenting the best of the best of what these walls have been privy to witness.

This exhibition will present the photographic genius of Kane Hibberd (The Art Of Capture), Caitlin Muscat (Caitlin Muscat Photography) and Brett Schewitz.

We are also showcasing our newly renovated bars and new Clair Bros PA. This brand new PA is the first of its kind in Australia.

Finally, there will be a presentation of a publicly voted and an industry voted Best Gig Shot – with a mounted shot to be presented to the promoter on the night on behalf of Billboard.

A night not to be missed, a chance to relive pivotal musical moments, last shows, sold out shows, side projects of major acts and artists in the beginning of their careers.

If these walls could talk…

We are lucky enough to have 10 x double passes to this very exclusive guest list only event, so tell us which was your favourite photo in the Billboard slideshow.
