The fantasy of all fantasies! Labyrinth was Jim Henson’s last directorial effort before his death, and an ’80s film worthy of the big screen if just for David Bowie in uncomfortably tight leggings and a spiky mullet. Dance, magic, dance with the Goblin King as Sarah (a young Jennifer Connelly), Hoggle, Ludo and Didymus negotiate the labyrinth and the Bog of Eternal Stench, and attempt to rescue baby Toby from Jareth’s evil clutches.

Before the film commences Tin Lion and Tom Spender will entertain you!

Tin Lion is the brainchild of Jesse Fultone and is a mangled mesh of his various influences. From the New York disco scene of the early 80s to folk and New Orleans 2nd line funk and soul.  These disparate styles are mixed in a cast iron pot, set to stew, then soaked in synthesizers and pushed out of speakers resulting in uncontrollable dancing by those within earshot.   Although Tin Lion is composed and produced by Jesse alone, in the live incarnation Jesse is paired with Jordan Garuccio who takes control of the percussion and triggers leaving Jesse to man the guitar, keys and vocals in a sometimes ruff and tumble but always white hot show.

He’s a producer, guitarist, keyboardist, alto saxophone and chromatic harmonica player, songwriter, 35 mm photographer, half Dutch father of two who teaches guitar to primary school kids. But above all, Tommy Spender is a restless creative spirit.   To date he’s worked with Gotye, Kimbra, Bertie Blackman, M-Phazes and visual artists Glen Wilkie, Jaqui Stockdale and Carla Fletcher resulting in varied, bold and reassuringly woozy sounds and pictures.  All this is backed up by an advanced diploma in music performance on alto sax, and a live show focused on laptop textures and live instruments. His debut album under the moniker Spender will be released in 2013.
