What could be better that watching the moon rise while watching Moonrise?! The Open Air’s opening night film brings Wes Anderson’s latest piece of unique wonderfulness, set in the summer of 1965 Moonrise Kingdom which tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing offshore and their peaceful island community is turned upside-down in more ways than anyone can handle.
Featuring stellar performances from Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman and Harvey Keitel.
Jack Carty is an Openair Cinemas favourite, and returns for the opening night screening fresh from stand out sets at Woodford Folk Festival, a solid year of national and international touring and his debut album ‘One Thousand Origami Birds’ being named in a slew of Best of 2011 lists, Jack Carty is on the road again following the release of his second album ‘Break Your Own Heart’ through Gigpiglet Recordings/Inertia on the 27th of April 2012.
Two releases, national and international tours, festival dates, supports for the likes of Matt Corby, Husky, Joshua Radin, Brett Dennen & Ingrid Michaelson, a MusicOZ Award, TV Syncs and appearances at Canadian Music Week and SXSW later, Jack is still watching, still thinking, still travelling and still creating… A good thing too, with the critically acclaimed ‘Break Your Own Heart’ already being dubbed his most ambitious, eloquent, moving and accomplished release to date, reaching a peak of #8 on the iTunes Australia Singer-Songwriter Chart and #15 on the Australian Independent Records chart on its week of release.
