In late 2012 the much-hyped 5 piece The Evening Cast signed to new Melbourne label Catch Release Records, following which the band sold out their hometown EP launch and set their sights on their inaugural national tour. Just a week out from the tour, The Evening Cast were halted when lead vocalists, husband and wife Joel and Rachel Cooper lost everything, including the bands recording studio and much of their touring gear in a tragic house fire.

With support from Catch Release Records and musical friends Clare Bowditch, Mark Lang (Skipping Girl Vinegar), Luke Legs and Celadore, the music industry and greater community bound together, putting on a benefit show to help raise funds to replace the musical equipment that was lost in the fire and to help The Evening Cast recuperate. What unfolded was an incredible act of generosity, love and overwhelming support from all involved.

Five months on, The Evening Cast have rebuilt what was lost and have used this experience to inspire them creatively, musically and personally and have returned to do the shows that they had no choice but to cancel last year. With the Sydney and Adelaide finishing up the ‘Lake’ tour the band have kindly given us a merch pack to giveaway to help celebrate.
