Calling All Cars are currently on tour in support of their new album Raise The People.
With singles ‘Werewolves’ and ‘Standing In The Ocean’ spinning regularly on the radio, as well as snagging the coveted spot on this weeks triple j Like A Version, the band have plenty to be fist pumping about. But the cherry on the cake has come in the last 24 hours, with news that their crowd funding initiative through Pledge Music is poised to tip over the 100% mark, and through the help of fans and a few major contributors, the band looks set to successfully fund their move to the UK.
The huge amount of enthusiasm and pledging shown by fans has been rewarded with a plethora of items; from signed vinyl, CDs, guitars and lyrics sheets, through to exclusive performances, music lessons and even a pair of front man Haydn Ing’s pants!
A huge contribution, the pledging of their tour van, occurred with only 48 hours to spare on the campaign. The beloved Toyota Tarago, which is also comes with a complete back line including amps and drums, was purchased by the generous folk at Seymour Toyota in Victoria. They intend to nurture its rock ‘n’ roll past by renting it out to musos who are hitting the road. The man behind the idea was Adam Dove, a music lover and Dealer Principal at
Seymour Toyota.
When asked about his Pledge, Dove stated “I’d already pledged a CD & T-shirt to the Calling All CarsPledge campaign, but when I saw they were selling their tour van, I remembered a conversation I had years ago with Dan from Gyroscope who , when I told him I worked at Seymour Toyota, said that Taragos are the best tour van ever. So I thought this might be a great way to engage with the music community, and also an opportunity to support Calling All Cars, and hopefully many more bands to come. We’ll be renting out the van to musicians who are hitting the road so it stays within the music world.”
