Having wowed fans during their last trip Down Under and having frightened fans all around the world with a viral marketing move that included the deletion of all their social media accounts, The 1975 have announced they will return to Australian shores in 2016.

In an open letter written to fans, the band reveal that they’re currently in the midst of producing their eagerly anticipated second full-length album. According to the group, the new record “signifies the end of the most inspiring and challenging time we’ve experienced as friends and as artists”.

“The best way to start is the way we did before – in venues we have loved and in places that feel intimate enough to do a proper new show, with people who really want to be there or need to be there in some extreme cases,” frontman Matt Healey continues.

“Due to the size of the venues that we feel are appropriate for this particular tour and taking into consideration the humbling dedication that I have felt from a lot of our fans I predict that only the most dedicated will end up with tickets.”
