If the success of Melbourne prog-metal band Twelve Foot Ninja’s music video campaign, smashing the previous record set by Eskimo Joe in February this year, has taught us anything – it’s that crowdfunding is here to stay.

Whether it’s as simple as a band recording a new album, raising funds for musicians to head overseas to tour, or simply a great music-related initiative, the likes of KickstarterPozible, and IndieGoGo are realising the previously lofty goals of artists the world over.

The Pretty Littles EP

Always good for a laugh, the Melbourne three-piece rockers are asking for a little help from ther fans. As so eloquently put on their Pozible page “We are putting together a new EP and we have run out of cash, anything ya got will help and we’d be forever grateful.”

“The recording is just about there, a morsal or two away from mixing. Then comes mastering, CD pressing, and, money-permitting, a James Cameron-directed video clip, fame, rehab, comeback tour, and finally rehab.”

Up for grabs if you pledge to the band’s cause is a Pretty Littles hamper with all their merch, a personally written song,  a gig at your place, and last but definitely not least, karma.

With a little over a month to go, they boys are a third of their way towards the goal, so get to giving!

Update On Last Week’s Campaigns

The Wheelharp by Antiquity Music, A groundbreaking keyboard musical instrument that’s like having a real chamber string orchestra at hand,  needs your help with less than a fifth of the needed funds pledged so far!

PIXIES: A Visual History go backed and then some! The photobook chronicling the band’s history exceeded its $150,000 goal by almost $100,000! Unfortunately, this good news is marred by the recent news that Kim Deal has left the band.

Mark Rudolph’s Closing Doors, the record store comic book met it’s $2000 goal for publishing costs. Hooray!

Aussie soul band  Deep Street Soul  have funded their tour of Europe and even exceeded their goal of $5000. Good job, music fans.

And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead have raised 46% of their intended goal  to record a new EP with 99 days to go. Considering how many fans paid to see the band live on their recent tour of Australia, Trail Of Dead lovers better get to pledging!
